Seeing a psychologist privately in Tunbridge Wells
Deciding to see someone is often the hardest step. Many people come to me after waiting a long time for NHS therapy, or because they want more choice over who they see, when, and for how long.
As a clinical psychologist I've completed a three-year doctorate in clinical psychology, trained across NHS services, and am regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council. That training means I can offer a careful assessment and draw on more than one therapy, rather than fitting you into a single model.
We start with a free phone call. If it feels right, we book an initial consultation to understand what's going on and agree a plan together.
How I work
I trained in several evidence-based approaches and choose with you what's likely to help most.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
A structured, practical therapy looking at how thoughts, feelings, body sensations and behaviour keep each other going.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT)
A third wave therapy that helps you make room for difficult thoughts and feelings and move towards what matters to you.
Compassion focused therapy (CFT)
A third wave therapy for shame, self-criticism and the feeling of never being good enough.
Systemic ideas
Understanding difficulties in the context of relationships, family, culture and the systems around you.
Narrative ideas, including the Tree of Life
Separating you from the problem, and drawing out the strengths and stories that problems can hide.
